Communications strategy: Go Cornish for primary schools

Having worked as Communications Manager on the Go Cornish project for Golden Tree Productions, it was a pleasure to be asked to help launch their Go Cornish for Primary Schools programme in June 2021.

The brief was to expand their current www.gocornish.org platform funded by Cornwall Council, and find a creative way to engage primary school teachers across Cornwall. The aim was to give every young person living in Cornwall the opportunity to learn something of the Cornish language.

My role was to project manage the launch of the Go Cornish for Primary Schools website using the WordPress platform, write copy for all the pages and marketing materials, and put together a communications strategy to encourage teachers to sign up. The highlight of the campaign was getting Go Cornish featured on BBC One’s The One Show, with Treloweth Primary School showing the programme in action.

Since the launch, Golden Tree are thrilled to have 30 primary schools registered with 5,800 pupils set to learn Cornish, as their schools work towards the Bronze Award.

Creative, reliable, well-organised and results-driven. I will certainly be asking Bethia to work with us on future projects.
