Five years as a communications and marketing consultant

It's my five year birthday! I have been running a communications and marketing consultancy business for half a decade. To celebrate, I am sharing five of my favourite client projects.

1. First up, I'd like to thank Golden Tree Productions. One of my very first clients, I've been working on and off with Golden Tree for five years. I managed the marketing of the 2018 Man Engine tour, put together a communications strategy for their Go Cornish programme, and have been involved at various stages of their Kerdroya Cornish hedge labyrinth project. My favourite Golden Tree piece of work was filming and editing this little Kerdroya video, capturing community engagement and Cornish hedge building workshops.

Creative, reliable, well-organised and results-driven. I will certainly be asking Bethia to work with us on future projects.
— Will Coleman, Creative Director of Golden Tree Productions

2. It was a pleasure to work as part of Made Open's team in 2018 to deliver the Design Out Drowning project for the RNLI. We researched how and why people got into trouble at the coast, and consolidated our findings into a series of design briefs for creative thinkers, makers and doers to respond to.

The second image above is of David Revell’s sand art response to one of the briefs.

3. In 2019, I started working with the Minack Theatre to promote their Minack Productions. The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett was one of my favourite books as a child, so it was an honour to work on the marketing and publicity of the Minack's stage adaptation. As part of a social media campaign, I worked in partnership with gardens around Cornwall to arrange a Secret Garden book hunt encouraging people to 'see the story come to life'.

Working with Bethia has been a delight. She is highly professional and efficient. Her guidance has been invaluable and we look forward to working with her again in the future.

4. One of my favourite clients to work with has been Green&Blue. Based in Perranporth, the B Corporation business produces a range of products that make a difference and have a positive impact for our wildlife. I worked with the Green&Blue team and University of Exeter to launch the first ever Solitary Bee Week, a campaign to educate people about the vital role of solitary bees.

We loved working with Bethia. She has a brilliant mixture of creative spirit combined with attention to detail that means ideas are translated into deliverable activities and actions.

5. Last but not least, I have recently worked with Tate St Ives on a project to celebrate the 5 year anniversary of their Jamie Fobert designed extension in October 2022. I attended the extension launch event five years ago, in my first week as a freelance marketing consultant. So, it's a pleasure to have Tate St Ives as a new client as our birthdays align!

A huge ‘thank you’ to all the clients, colleagues and friends who have supported and championed my business over the past five years. Here's to another half decade!
